SANT ELM MALLORCA

Sant Elm is a quiet and pretty fishing village in the west of Majorca, very different from the highly developed areas elsewhere in the island.  There are many hiking trails with inspiring views that you can take from the village (so don't forget your sketchbook), crystal clear waters to swim in, a reasonable bus service and great places to eat.  A very relaxed vibe and I felt very safe travelling solo.

Near Sant Elm (change of bus required if you are using public transport) is the traditional town of Andratx. This is worth exploring in its own right and being a little inland, you'll find the restaurants full of locals and the prices cheaper than down on the coast.

On the outskirts of the town is a stunning contemporary gallery ccandratx.eu that I spent most of a day exploring.  Set around a beautiful courtyard and in lovely grounds, the curation of the art was stunning and the work modern and thought-provoking.  They offer residencies for artists here too: RESIDENCIES | ccandratx.eu and the studios are attached to the side of the gallery.

I think this would be an excellent place to come and work, but you'd probably want a car, and I'd suggest it is for those who want peace and quiet.  They also have a wonderful cafe and a decent gift shop.

Another place in Majorca that I'd recommend for natural inspiration is the beautiful house and gardens at: ▷ Visit Alfabia Gardens in Mallorca - Alfabia Gardens (jardinesdealfabia.com)
